On Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025, His Eminence Metropolitan Saba celebrated Orthros and the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church of Allentown, Pa. Welcoming him were the pastor, Archpriest Meletios Zafaran, and the community.

In the liturgy, His Eminence ordained Nathan Johnson, a second-year student at St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, to the holy diaconate. He took the name Porphyrios after St. Porphyrios of Kavsokalyvia, just two days before his feast day (Dec. 2).

Sayidna Saba encouraged Dn. Porphyrios to emulate his namesake’s example of softness, humility and simplicity. With these virtues, this twentieth-century saint was known for loving his people and bringing them to our Lord Jesus Christ.
Dn. Porphyrios will continue to serve at St. George Church for his seminary assignment.
